Pushing Through The Fear

There’s a big reason why I stopped writing.

There was a time where I spent every single day writing. Much like now, I wrote at least 100 words per day, writing articles about anything on my mind. Rejected that day? Article about rejection. Insecure about my college career? Bam, an article about why it’s okay to make different choices in college.

But if I’m being completely honest, writing scares me.

It’s scary because I’m scared that my writing is nowhere near as good as I think it is. It’s something that has been disproven over and over again, but the fear stills stay there. I’m scared that people are laughing at my writing, and not in a good way.

Fear of being judged, or not being liked, or not having any impact is a major reason why we don’t do the things that we love. But pushing through that fear is how we grow.

We need to go against our screaming rationality, our negative thoughts. We should throw ourselves into things that we enjoy without fear of recourse or backlash. The people that do great things are those who are able to push through the fear, the worry, the insecurity.

And so, this year, I’d like to push through the fear.

This is Day 5 of my 100 Words a Day project.
