BBB: Back into the fray.

I’m back again after three days of not writing.

It’s crazy how easy it is to fall out of good habits — one day, you say it’s only going to be one day, and then you just repeat that to yourself every day until it’s suddenly been a while since you’ve done that habit.

So here’s me trying to jump back into writing every day again.

Sometimes it’s a weird cycle, trying to get back into a good habit. You commit to doing a good habit everyday, and then you miss one or two days. After that, you tell yourself “Since I’ve already missed so many days, I’ve broken my initial promise to myself. There’s no point in continuing.”

And so you proceed to never do that good habit again. Just because you miss one or two days, you tell yourself you’re a failure and there’s no point in trying again.

It’s weird, isn’t it? We do something good for ourselves, and commit to consistently being good, yet one or two days of not doing something good convinces us that we’ll never be good.

That isn’t true. Yes, it’s good to maintain a habit consistently for weeks, months, or years. But it’s normal to have a break every once in a while. Just because you take a day or two off doesn’t mean that you have to completely give up on trying to be better.

Whenever you slip, get back up. Again. And again. And again.

No matter how hard it gets, no matter how much you think you’ve failed, no matter if you think that it’s not worth it. Just get up and do it again.

Here we go, back into the fray.
